Iron Range Dog Training Club Fall 2010 Training Session
Welcome to the IRDTC Fall Training Session. Registration and demonstrations are scheduled Sept. 8th. Owners and their dogs begin class the week of Sept. 13th – 17th. The last class is the week of Oct. 25th – 29st.
MONDAY classes:
5:30-6:15 pm Agility: Foundation
- Beginner foundation class is for dogs and handlers who have never done agility before or want to retrain their agility foundation. We will start with basic groundwork necessary for all crosses, beginning weave and contact obstacle training. This class will be for teams who want to have a safe and reliable foundation for agility work and would like to possibly explore competing in the future. – taught by Missi Roland

6:30-7:15 pm Agility: Weaves & Contacts
- Designed to further teach and develop handlers and dogs with the skills necessary to successfully perform all agility obstacles – taught by Missi Roland
- Price per class: Nonmembers-$70 Non-active members-$35 Active Working Members-$10
7:30-9:15 pm Agility: Advanced
- Advanced training for dogs and handlers who have completed a prior foundation class in agility. Dogs will learn reliable methods for contact obstacles, weaves, jumps and other basic commands. This class is based on the fact handlers may want to compete in the future. – taught by Missi Roland

TUESDAY class:
2:00-2:45 pm Puppy Class –
- For dogs 12 weeks to 5 months, who need basic socialization – taught by Lisa Anderson
- Price per class: Nonmembers-$60 Non-active members-$25 Active Working Members-$10
3:00-3:45 pm Beginner Obedience –
- For dogs who have either completed Puppy Class or know the basic commands or are 6 months – taught by Lisa Anderson.
- Price per class: Nonmembers-$70 Non-active members-$35 Active Working Members-$10
5:30-6:15 pm Novice –
- Geared for competition based teams and helpful for everyone even if you have already been training on advanced exercises. This is the root of competition foundation training. – taught by Missi Roland

6:30-7:15 pm Beginner Obedience –
- For dogs who have either completed Puppy Class or know the basic commands or are 6 months – taught by Cathy Kishel
- Price per class: Nonmembers-$70 Non-active members-$35 Active Working Members-$10
7:30-9:00 pm Competition Obedience – (Open & Utility)
- This class is offered for all dogs, all teams, and all skills levels. We will gear all exercises to competition type foundation training. It will not be subject to just doing run through. Rather we will be learning different exercises each week at all levels. This class will help prepare dog/handler teams for obedience/rally competition by teaching dogs commitment and challenges to increase reliability. – taught by Missi Roland

WEDNESDAY classes:
5:15-6:15 pm Rally (All Levels) –
- The first half of the hour will be Novice, which will introduce and develop the skills and maneuvers of rally. The second half of the class will further the skills and maneuvers of rally, and to prepare handlers and dogs to compete in rally – taught by Jamie Skinner & Mary Beth Kafut

6:30-7:15 pm Puppy Class –
- For dogs 12 weeks to 5 months, who need basic socialization – taught by Cathy Kishel
- Price per class: Nonmembers-$60 Non-active members-$25 Active Working Members-$10
7:30-8:15 pm Tweeners –
- An intermediate class aimed at handlers that want more control over their pets or are contemplating advancing into the competition world of dog sports. The emphasis of the class will be greater control of your dog with an eye towards competing. The class will work towards faster and more reliable responses to basic commands (sits, downs, stays & recalls), off leash heeling and begin more formal commands such as fronts and finishes. – taught by Mary Beth Kafut & Patty Stanaway.

**Please note: Non-active and Active Working Member class fees are in addition to annual membership dues. An active working member has worked on at least one committee in 2009.
