Class schedule CHANGE

Classes with your dog will start the week of May 7th.   Bring LOTS of treats!

We have ADDED another class time for our Beginner Obedience Class.  

  • This class is for dogs who have either completed Puppy Class or know the basic commands or are 6 months or older. 

Price per class: Nonmembers-$70   Non-active members-$50    Active Working Members-$10

The first class will be held on Monday evenings from 7:00-7:45 pm and taught by Cathy Kishel.  Thank you Cathy for taking on a second class so we are able to break up such a big group so everyone gets the attention they deserve!   Thank you people and dogs also :)

The second class will be on Wednesday evenings from  6:00 – 6:45 pm and taught by Deb Motley.

PLEASE NOTE:  The first week of this session (May 7) will NOT have the Monday night Beginner Obedience Class ..all attendee’s will go to their first class on WEDNESDAY May 9th at 6:00 pm.  This way each class has the same information heading into it.  The FOLLOWING week (May14th) is when the two classes will be held separately.

The AGILITY FOUNDATIONS class has also been changed - it will be taught by Sandra Tuominen but will now be held on THURSDAYS at 5:30 pm.   before the 4-H Class. 

  • Beginner foundations class is for dogs and handlers who have never done agility before or want to retrain their agility foundations.  We will start with basic ground work necessary for all crosses, beginning weave and contact obstacle training.  This class will be for teams who want to have a safe and reliable foundation for agility work and would like to possibly explore competing in the future.

Puppy Socialization in March

Puppy Socialization

A puppy socialization class will be offered for dogs under 1-yr old on
Saturdays (March 10, 17, 24, and 31).  We will need at least 4 members to
supervise these classes, you need not be there for all 4 classes.

Class prices will be $10 each or $35 for all 4, and will be limited to 15
puppies.

 

Phil Rustad Seminar

The Iron Range Dog Training Club will be hosting a seminar titled, ” The Last Five Points’ on Saturday, February 18th, 2012.  The seminar will start at 8:00 a.m. and run until 5:00 p.m.  It will be held at the Club and will be HANDLERS ONLY NO DOGS. The cost will be $25 for members and $30 for non-members.

 The seminar is being presented by Phil Rustad and covers the rules of obedience and rally  REMEMBER THERE ARE NEW RALLY RULES & SIGNS GOING INTO EFFECT APRIL 2012)  Phil will cover how to get the most out of your run.  It’s very helpful for people with little show experience as well as the veteran handler.  He will go through the rule book from novice to utility and talk about all the things that judges are looking for as well as what people can do to make a bad day into a good one.  


Phil has been involved in the sport of dogs for 30 years.  He has been an AKC, CKC, ASCA Obedience judge for over 10 years.  He’s been a four time invitee to the National Obedience Invitational and a competitor in the National Agility Championships.
 
PLEASE NOTE THIS WILL BE A POTLUCK FOR LUNCH, I AM ASKING CLUB MEMBERS TO HELP OUT WITH THIS IF POSSIBLE.
